HVX-200 HD output

topic posted Thu, January 10, 2008 - 7:37 PM by  D
Does anyone know for sure if the HVX-200 will output HD via the firewire port if there is no P2 card installed?
Wondering if I can shoot straight to FCP.

    Ok, Hello.

I also have the HVX200 with no P2 cards or Firestore.
Thats all I have since I jumped in from selling my DVX100.

    1. My client wants me to deliver HDV tapes (1080i). I don't know what
would be the best way around this ?

    - Recording onto the Sony HD video walkman directly ?
    using the component connection.

I don't want to buy an HDV camera, because I might as well soop up my
    new HD gear.

I tried shooting straight into FCP but the camera does not accept the 1080i
settings if there is no P2 card. And also firewire in not capable of moving the signal.
It would have to be done via component.

    thank you

      Hmm, HDV is fake HD.....
If they want HDV..... rent the camera.
If you use ProRes, I think you should be able to output in HDV.

Why do they want it in HDV?
Do they know what they are talking about?
Or did they just hear the hype?

If they have the HDV camera.... they use theirs....

      HD video waklman?
      Sound fun!

Hmm, FireWire should be able to move DVCPRO HD, as this is what the FireStore does.

Correct- you can also use Kona IO or Blackmagic if you have .. but sounds weird to go from true HD to heavily interlaced HDV... double check your settings or create an "easy setup" for HD... it will work

You could simply export your video as HDV from FCP, then throw it on a timeline and Print to Video right into an HDV camera -- which you would need access to (rent one?).
